Scope and Contents The John A. Rockwell Papers consist of approximately 250 letters, dating from 1865-1867. The letters are from the period when Rockwell served as Superintendent of the American Missionary Association's (AMA) Lincoln School in Macon, Georgia, and record his efforts on behalf of the freedmen population in the area of education.
